Metal Detecting is Hard Work.

Yesterday I went to my favorite local park to dig clad. Park employee requested assistance in finding cutoff valves for the sprinkler system on three of their ball fields. Was able to find two of the three but the third one just would not show up. The guy that appeared to be in charge of the work told me that I could detect anywhere in the park including the ball fields as they knew that I took care of their turf.
I did dig up a bit over five bucks in clad before the evening ball crowd showed up.

Today I decided to go to the beach. Took the Sovereign GT this time instead of the Excalibur. I usually only use the GT for dirt fishing. I did not recharge the battery after yesterdays outing and it only lasted 7.5 hours today. But that was enough for this old man.

I found one ring today. It is a coin ring and it came out of the dirt with the coin shining a pretty yellow. My heart rate went up just a little until I wiped the sand out of and off the ring. JUNK. The coin is a French 5 centimes coin. Beautiful coin but not what I had hoped. Ended the day with $3.95 in clad and a bag of bottle caps, pull tabs, sunglasses etc.

Yep Metal Detecting is Hard Work but it sure is fun.

What do you mean only 7.5 hrs? Your doing real well I would say George. God bless you thats a good long hunt:clapping:

George even a couple of hour is sometimes a lot of work.I used an Explorer SE today,My Sovereign is much easier on my arms. Thanks Ron

I wish I could get one minute! My new hunting partner here in Va. can go on Wed's. & Thur's. but, it hasn't stopped raining in 2 days with no let up in sight.

Nice finds! I'm a middle aged guy and 3 hours is enough for me!

What part of VA? I am in Salem in the SW part of State.

If that ? was for me...I'm in Spotsylvania/Fredericksburg.

Fletch You are still a youngster compared to me. I am 73. Beach hunting is not as tiring as dirt fishing. Dont have to kneel down and stand up hundreds of times as I do dirt fishing. But I can usually do five to six hours dirt fishing unless it gets hot and humid.
