metal detecting in Port Aransas TX

SJB

New member
Spending the next 6 months in Port Aransas TX and want to spend time on the beach with a metal detector. This will be a new venture for me. I have not seen any one on the beach at this time to ask a few questions.

That's good....sounds like it's yours to conquer.....But then, they only come out at night or early morning in this heat...you might just not be seeing them.....Good Luck

I have a 5th wheel down there and I try to go as often as I can. If you want to see the elusive detectorist you will have to get up early 4:00am or stay out late. In the summer its too dang hot. Lots of good beaches to detect, you can walk for miles. I use an E-Trac from the sand all the way down to the serf. I will pick one of the entrances gear up and start walking a www pattern along the water line until I start hitting targets. Once I get a few good targets I will grid that area out until I run out of good targets then I move on. I avoid the weekends, there are less jerks out during the week. Get a good sand scoop and be ready to dig lots of junk. Take bug spray and lots of drinking water. Good luck.
