Metal Detecting in Northern Illinois

My plans this spring for the newly purchased 1350 would be to pick up a county park permit and begin hitting the local parks. There does not seem to be any other areas to try. Very difficult to get permission to detect on old farm properties and other areas that have any type of historical background.

How about schools and playgrounds, sites of outdoor events, local river and lake beaches.

Well, check out Birds IL.
I went there last year. There was a bad flood that ruined the little town. SOme residents are left
but for the most part its considered a ghost town. I went there and asked the local Mayor for permission to MD
and he said ok. Take a ride down that way. Its not all that far. If you need more information PM me.
