Metal Detecting in Maryland

New member
I will visit Maryland in April and I have an opportunity to hunt an old mill site (private property) including all buildings and grounds. I would also like to detect other areas while there. Can anyone inform me of restrictions, laws, etc., regarding MDing in Maryland?
I am well aware of restrictions on Federal/State monuments, battlefields, common restrictions everywhere. But what about public parks, State parks, State forests, old canal systems ,public land in general?

I don't know any sites in Maryland but did you know that Maryland would likely have been a Confederate state had Lincoln not persecuted the state legislature, cause the move of the state capitol, and generally disrupted the move? Lincoln, in 1861, imposed martial law in Maryland to prevent secession. You'll be hunting on good ground in any case... :csflag:

It's all good...

Hi Julien. Down here we refer to you Georgians as Northerners. However, we won't hold that against you as we love to visit Georgia. Did you ever make it down to Mexico Beach Florida ? Our Beach's up here by Pensacola are just ruined and going thru renourishment until who knows. HH Don
