Metal Derecting Tip For "Getting Extra Depth With Your Machine"

Well......then scrub the ground. Yeah....I know, the manual says float that coil about an inch above the ground. And that is good advice for hunting spots, where there are a lot of targets, both good and bad in the top 4-5 inches. However, some sites have been hit hard, and most good and bad targets have been removed. That leaves the deeper ones. This is a prime area to "scrub". So.....put some pressure on the coil while you are swinging it back and forth, but slow down. Give the electronic brains a chance to digest all the information from the target(s). In the grass, you could gain an extra one to one and a half inches. I really recommend you use a search coil cover, as you will be stressing the coil somewhat, and a coil cover costs a lot less then a new coil.

And.....don't over-do it. You don't want to povault with the machine, you just want to get that coil closer to the targets.

Also, especially with the 250, if you swing fast you will pick up a couple of extra inches but you have to listen for the signals as they will just be blips.

I noticed using the 9x12 coil, I get an extra notch of
depth if I run the sensitivity at max. I've seen a good
few deep targets that would not hit on anything less than
max. If I turned down one notch, I wouldn't get the hit
unless I really swung fast and got lucky. Turn it back to
max, and it would hit nearly every time.
I guess this applies to the other coils too, but it really
shows up on the 9x12 quite a bit and it makes me afraid to
roll it back too much.. Mine misses some deep targets
if it's not full blast. Course, those are usually near the
edge of detectability, and usually have a wavery pinpointer
sound. I scrub down pretty close most of the time. One reason
why I insist on covers.. Got my 9x12 cover the other day.
Looks a heck of a lot better than my trash bag thing...
The 9x12 cover is more closed under the bottom than the stock
coil cover. The only hole is the front middle..Has drain holes.
Fits tight too...At first I thought it might be slightly too
small to fit, but finally got it on ok. I'll probably pull it
off every once in a while so it doesn't get stuck on the coil.
