Even as cold as it was today I had to get out for a minute, so I went to a little park down the road that I had hit last week. Did OK last week so I thought I would go slow & look for gold. I just got started & noticed a lady next door, actually it was the six dogs she had that I noticed.

All I had was my screw driver & pin pointer with me & after the first signal I hear her yell at me. So being polite I walked over to the fence & asked what she needed. I was then told that I was not from around here & that I shouldn't be digging in the park. I explained that I was not digging & that I was in fact doing the park a favor by clearing all of the beer tabs out of the lawn.

Again she said I saw you digging & don't think you should be doing that in our park. It was cold anyway so rather than telling her to call the cops & we would see who got the ticket, me for doing nothing or her for having 4 more dogs than the law permits. Taking the bitter with the sweet I left the old grouch alone but I will go back when its is warmer. I guess I was just not in the mood to argue with her.

This was the first time I have been confronted & I was a little disappointed in the way she acted. Most of the time people stop & ask if I have found anything good or simply say hi & go about there business.

Always check the bushel for bad apples.....
There's one in every bunch...

Not worth a confrontation considering the cold and all. Save that for when the weather is good LOL.

I ran into one of those in a park in Yreka, CA this summer. I had my earphones on and just pretended I could not hear her and continued on my way. She thought she was the detector police.

I had almost the same experience. A young guy came roaring up (on public property) and asked "what the hell do you think your doing?) I told him I was just coin shooting. (With the counties permissionof course) and he said well this is sacred ground. I asked how and he said because it USED TO BE my grandmothers until she gave it to the county. I said then how is it sacred. he said It just is. I told him to get off my back or I'd call the SD and have him arrested for harassment. That got his attention, so he drove off and I haven't seen him since. A little nuts I'd say. I later called the SD and they said next time call us and we'll settle it. You can get some weird characters out there sometime. I carry a 9mm and a skinning knife with me all the time with my CWP I'm allowed to. Thank goodness so far no problems. Usually as bula said, most folks are very nice. thanks for looking. Have a good one and HH this weekend. KC

I think I might have to use this one in the future. Excuse me (lady or sir) but I am doing this as a undercover front, I'm really watching for a drug sale to go down, so I need you to go inside please.

Nancy and I had one like that a couple of years ago and after taking the verbal abuse from her a few times, I suggested she take a course from the local Jr. College on anger management.........she then went in and got her dog and walked him around me until he did his business. She got her point across as did I and she hasn't bothered us since. The property owner is the nicest guy and said we could hunt there anytime we wanted which we did. This is the old rental property that we found hundreds of "keepers" that we posted about..... You run across them every once in a while, but not often.

:devil:They don't stay around long.

I had to laugh at some of the responces. You'll get that now and then, but since we've been detecting with the General, no one comes near. [attachment 147002 GeneralandWhites.jpg]

I would have to take one of my sons boxers as I don't think my yorkie is going to run off anyone even though she thinks she is a big dog.

Oh Bula, I had to laugh.. I'm trying to picture the BIG BAD Yorkie while detecting. I would be afraid the little thing would fall into the hole and couldn't find it's way out. No, not a good idea to take your dog. Get your son's. I tell you what though.........When we're out hunting, General thinks he's the king of the land and if looks could kill. Now if there's little kids, he can't stand still for wanting them to pet him and so he can love on them. I don't think he would harm anyone, but we aren't going to take that chance. Larry holds tight and gives his command and General will stay and watch the people go by at a distance. Stay warm and HH, Nancy

I know what you are talking about, my son just got their 3rd boxer. All three think they are lap dogs yet if the Yorkie doesn't rule them the shiatsu does. & she weighs in at a whopping 9 lbs. The Yorkie 5 lbs All three of his boxers are the same way, they would not hurt a fly.

Happened to me once before also, Had a guy screaming at me "Hey you what do you think your doing" my response "I'm minding" he says to me what the hell is minding I responded I'm minding my own business why dont you mind yours ,and off he went.
