I tried posting on the follow up but do not think it went throught..Maybe it's the digging part thats hurting you and not the swinging part.
Try a new difgger.maybe a little longer one, or sharper one..You might be bending wrong or pushing out of whack penetrating the ground..Just a thought !!

I have a Lesche knife. But I don't even have to dig for the pain to come on. I went hunting tonight for about 1.5 hours. I was using my long handled sand scoop on two sand Volleyball courts. The pain is still there. I've had it since 1984 when I started detecting. It's something I can overcome especially if I find gold. Tonight all my gold rings were pull tabs and oddly 3 fishing weights and a fishing pole end. I just don't find too much gold!
