Hey Kids...
Well I got to try out my new AT Gold for the first time in daylight today and I took 22 coins in Disc 2, yea...!!!... We have a new 2 year old park right across the street and I wanted to hit it first as I've never seen anyone with a detector over there... I was totally amazed at all the, nails, pull tabs, wire, metal cable, nuts, bolts, washers, and tin foil, as it was everywhere I stepped, yet as I said the park is only 2 years old...
There was no way I could move hardly 6" in all metal mode and I need mucho practice in setting iron disc in Disc 1 so I went to Disc 2 with it's iron disc default of 35 and I was very impressed how I was able to pull quarters and dimes out right next to nails and tin foil from gum wrappers...
I didn't hit a single nickel though and it's been so long since I've used my old Compass X80 way back in the 1980's that I recognize now how much I really need to relearn this wonderful hobby... I a big way I'm starting all over with this new machine as well as todays new technologies...
Ground balance either in Auto or Manual worked fine and the high, medium, low tones of Disc 2 are sweet for sure... I pulled some thin very worn dimes out at easily 5" as well as an iron nugget of sorts, the likes of which I've never seen even down on our claims... We have big time clay ground all around our home here and they make bricks less than 1/2 mile away so it's nowhere like the hot ground and black sands we have down at the claims...
Lots to learn for sure but at least I was able to maiden my AT Gold to the tune of 22 coins today, ha... This baby really has the sensitivity and I now have to learn her tones as she talks to me... The Garrett Pro Pointer was flawless and nailed every target with ease...
Again Merry Christmas to all...

PS: This iron nodule was about 4" in diameter and had molten bubble marks in and around it's magnetite stone aggregate... It's way different than the minerals we find our nuggets in while dredging vein material south of here...
