Mercury, buffalo and a couple of wheat's.

It got to 2 C. It was a beautiful day and I didn't want to miss it. By the time I got business stuff done the sun was getting low. The man that lived here move out Saturday. The house is adjacent to my father's house. There is a guy named Kettle, we call him Pa Kettle, that lives across the street from my dad. He is are local "horse trader" and paid for the rights to demo this place. I went inside to MD the house and ran my coil over every jar in the basement. Nothing in the house. My best finds were under the clothes line.

I find at least one of these at every house. After I remove the lid I check the hole again. It screamed high silver. I was about to have heart attack. I dug deeper and found a large rusty nail. I put the sniper into the hole again and nothing.

I found another no date Buffalo, I think that's about the forth one this year with no dates. I do know the last # is an 8.

I am not done with this house. It got dark on me.
The total. The two wheat's are 1948 and 1951. Junk ear ring and a little lock of some kind.

A wheat, buffalo and a lady? All in one outing? John, you are a master hunter for sure.:detecting:

Saw this on a coin forum. They say it works. Or nitric acid on the date area for 20 min. but BE CAREFUL with it.

The last place I worked, I was in high purity and chemical piping. I had gallons of any acid I wanted to play with and nitric acid was one of them. I use to clean high purity parts with 39% peroxide, H2O2. OK, where locally do I get nitric acid now? I'll try a coin shop.

Is "Pa Kettle" recycling (or selling) some of the materials & fixtures, since you said he'd paid to demo it? Congrats on the finds!

For the right price, he would sell anything. He has got so many cars, he has had to park them on the street. My dad had to make a parking place in the back of his house, so he could have a parking place. I think he is a swindler.

The old lumber in those homes is worth a fortune as it is the real stuff, not this cheap junk they pawn off on you today. There are several businesses here in Portland that deal exclusively in that stuff for folks to build new homes with. It's like my house. It's all made of real two by fours, real two by sixes and all in prime douglas fir. You can't even buy this stuff anymore.

No mercury in the Mercury dime. They are composed of 90% silver and 10% copper.

Despite its name, the Mercury dime does not actually depict Mercury, it is a portrait of Lady Liberty wearing a winged cap. (The mythical Mercury was actually male, and had wings on his feet.) Since the resemblance was to Mercury, the name "Mercury Dime" was commonly used, and eventually stuck.

Yes they are. Scientists figured out how to make it a solid. It is very dangerous. If you find any, send them to me for ....uhhh... proper disposal:yikes:
