Mental bloc???? :rage:

I am fairly new to Minelabs and their programming. I had an Explorer for a while and learned it to the point where I could be happy with it...but I felt like I was missing something...that there was more. What's the best way to slowly learn how to optimize their performance? Maybe I need a personal tutor???

Now I am very glad that I am a proud owner of a CTX...I just need them to write a book called "CTX 3030 Learning Tool for Dummies"! Can anyone steer me to a site that explains some of the better programming in a easy, slow pace? Shoot...I just learned how to manually adjust the sensitivity last week...and I've had my CTX for 2 months already! What a dummy I am!! duh?

Youtube, The CTX Resource center listed above, the manual that came with it. If you have anyone within driving distance from you that has one it would probably be worth your while to visit them for a day to get better acquaintedwith the machine.

Not giving you a smart a$$ answer but just use it. If you get confused do a reset. Find a couple of targets and mark them with golf tees. Now try different settings( audio, deep on & off, open screen or discrimination, auto +3, ) experiment and enjoy the results. HH :minelab:

Get the book " The CTX 3030 Beach and Water Hunters Guide by Gary T Drayton" after reading the manual and playing with the CTX in the house ( Cause we still have snow in the ground here in North Dakota ) I ordered this book, and the way he explanes how he uses the CTX helped me feel more comfortable with navigating thru the settingd on the CTX. Keep reading the posts on the CTX and that will help you alot. Here are a few other articials that will help you understand the CTX. Good Luck

Easiest way to use it is the stock coin program and 50 multi or Andy's coin program and 50 multi. Combine is like a 5 tone ferrous mode. And very simple once you learn where you want your bins and what the numbers mean. YouTube is a great source of info as well as the resource center here on findmall.

As a newbie myself, the manual seemed very intimidating at first but in reality, after one careful reading, it all made sense. The CTX is really very simple to set up and use with a series of short and long button presses. Forget the GPS and Mapping features for now and concentrate on the basic operations. I promise that it will all make sense in time.

I'd agree that the stock programs are the place for newbies to get started on the CTX 3030. It gets a bit more confusing when folks make reference to Andy's coin program. As far as I know, Andy hasn't written any programs for the CTX 3030, and his programs are based on the Explorer. If we are building programs based on FE and CO properties, realize that the Explorer and CTX 3030 use totally different numbering systems for FE / CO. One additional point is that Combined Audio is actually 4 CO tones and 1 FE tone. JMHO HH Randy

Digger is correct. Combine is a mix of the 4 co tone program and the 2 ferrous tone program that are available on the ctx.
