Another X-Terra 50 find after being in the ground for 800 years.

7.5kHz coil at a depth of 10".Jerry.

Seriously!

What is it? What is the engraving? Is there an animal in the shape? Is it bronze?

What dynasty, kingdom, period is it from? What area of the world did you find it in?

Enquiring minds want to know!

It appears to be what is termed Zoomorphic.

It appears to have feet and ears but only one eye.

The body seems to be armoured.

I thought that it was saxon but its may be medieval and the Museum is going to give their view when they have a hands on with it.

Saxon area roughly 1000 to 1500 years ago.

This was followed by the Medieval period up to 500 years back.

These are approimate dates.

We mainly detectect the SW of England but the east side of the country seems the better side for finds.

I hope this helps.Jerry.

Could you provide information on how big it is, because 10 inches is deeeeep! We also on this side of the pond consistently hear how iron ridden your fields are, was this an iron filled site?

We in the colonies would faint dead away finding something like this, congrats!

Hi Bill its about 1.252 X 1.00".

Iron was not a real problem on this site.

But I do find its best to use the Terra at the maximum sensitivty that I can get away with.

I dont put to many pictures up as it might offend folk and this hobby is not about showing off but sharing.

I have had other nice finds with the Terraa just as good as with my Explorer and as most finds are in the top 12 inches the Terra does not really miss out to much and I can swing it for twice as long without getting tired.Best Wishes,Jerry.

That is really neat!

Wow.

Please post an update when you hear something more definitive from the museum.
