Folks, I found this medallion yesterday while water detecting an old swimming hole on a river nearby. The river crossing at this location predates the Civil War, and could have been used for troop movements and camps. That has not been verifeid however. I am sorry about the picture qualities..... cell phone camera. The disc appears to be brass and looks like it may have had a ring at the top for wearing on a chain?. On the "Front" of the medallion there is an eagle that I think you can make out. And there is a space below the eagle's perch that could have contained some wording. Thats about all I can tell there. On the reverse..... there is a Star above the center point, and around the edge there appears to be an encircling laurel wreath. Again, there is space beneath the star that may have contained wording or something. It's just highly eroded, and I cannot make out anything else. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
