Medal detector lingo:stars:

clad usually refers the copper clad dimes, quarters and halfs. some call the zinc penny clad which technically it is.

Chuck is right, most people refer to any dime, quarter, or half that was made after 1964 as "clad". It is usually just the pocket change you find while hunting for the nice old coins.

I was told that CLAD stood for "Can't Locate Anything Decent"----------- :)....Just made that one up......Clad is modern coins.....1965 and newer....pennys that have the Lincoln Memorial on the back are called memorials or stinking lincolns.......wheat backs are called wheats.....Indian head pennys are called Indians.....or IH....walking liberty halfs are called walkers.....standing liberty halfs are called SLH...seated liberty coins are called seated libertys.....Large cents which are the big first pennys are called just that and also LC......then you get into design types of the LC..like matrons head....... flowing hair.etc.....
it is way too much to go into so get your reading glasses on and start doing some searching on the net...
www.coinfacts.com ..................... is a good place to start....Thats how I started.....you got to have the bug to get into all this and if you ain't got the treasure hunting bug then you will never have the drive to find out what there is out there.....Good luck :stars:

Clad..Pronounced "KLAD" To bond a layer of metal to another.

Clad coins have copper center and are bound with nickle-copper alloy (Silver colored outer layer) This started in 1965...................pre 65 dimes quarters halfs, were 90% Silver
Hence the term "Clad" for all new coins 1965 to present.

I know the feeling,

When I read about scrubbing the coil, I thought they were cleaning their coils......No that means sliding the coil on the grass or ground to get more depth. Being a Surveyor I thought MD meant main drain........It didn't help when I figured out what GB meant because I didn't know what Ground balance meant either..... I just figured most ground was flat and some hills.

I found out that tot lots were not properties sold to children. And if your swinging, it ain't with the girl at the singles bar. So you can imagine my confusion when I discovered that trash means just that.

A rig is a metal detector, a machine is a metal detector, an MD is a metal detector and My Baby is a metal detector. So, if your out scrubbing and swinging with your baby, you ain't washing dishes before or after having sex.

I'm still working on it, when I learn more I let you in on it:thumbup:
