I had a couple hours before dark Friday so I hit a meadow I've pounded for the last few years to see if I could stir something up. My hunting buddy and I have really hit this place and pulled out around 35 coppers, a couple 2 centers and a half cent (plus lots of flats and artifacts). I was going really slow because I knew there had to be more to squeeze out. I got a very SHORT, high pitch signal and my depth meter showed only about 3-4 inched. The signal was so short, like a blip, that I would have missed it if I was sweeping faster and didn't pass exactly over it (no halo what so ever). Turned out to be an 1838 LC only a few inches deep. I KNOW that we've both pounded the snot out of the area where I found this coin! Also found a gilt flat button and a 1938 dog license in an area close by.
