Me, The Excal and the Bahamas

Not a pretty picture! First time I used the Excalibur and what nice clear warm water. I was doing a popular beach on a very small Island that doesn't get seeded like the touristy resorts. I found a bunch of Bahamian coins. Two things in the picture you might help me identify. The largest coin had 2 cents and something about the British Commonwealth. The metal object at the top, appears to me that it could have been a pressure relief valve from a small early era steamboat. I was staying in Man-O-War Cay and it's known for it's boat building. The Albury family has built boats there since the colonial days. An interesting side is that the original boats built by the Albury brothers were built using their eyes as to what looked right for shape and dimensions. No naval architect or plans. Someone on the East Coast has purchased the rights to build about 10 per year here in the US.

cant tell from the picture but the large item looks like a sprinkler head unit... you find them in shops, factories etc where a wet fire fighting system is in place,. to explain, a pipe full of water at ceiling or roof level has many of these, there is a glass bulb in the hole and with the heat from a fire this shatters letting the water out which puts out the fire.... then again it might not be.. can you send some more pics so I can confirm...

Mate, you've got the right idea! Mask and snorkel is the way to go!

Must admit, I am green with envy........ fancy being able to work with no wetsuit.

Even when our waters are at their warmest I need 5mm jacket and longjohn, this time of the year I'm using 5mm longjohn with a 7mm shortjohn over that and a 9mm jacket over that and after about the three hour mark I start to freeze anyway. After 6-7 hours I'm hypothermic!
Upside is I don't get much competition!

Cheers Lou.
