Me and the Yeller Feller scored an Ike dollar today..

Stopped at an old school I haven't hunted in years other than the playground. Today the playground was full of house apes so I decided to hunt the side lawn of the school till the kids cleared out.

I had hardly got started till the 250 sang my song and the display said "dollar." I said, "Nah, probably junk." But when I probed it was big so I dug it and it was so cruddy I at first thought it was a big token or a dollar token from Nevada, then I rubbed some of the crud off and saw old Dwight David smiling at me.

To say this tweaked my interest would be an understatement. I immediately got serious and was soon finding other coins, including a spill of about ten coins. I only got to hunt about a quarter of this lawn so I'm going back. I finally got back to the playground and it was a bummer. Found a couple of dimes and pennies. I'l be looking for Ike's mate when I return. :)

PS
I learned something today by accident. If you choke up on the length of the shaft on the 250 so when you are scanning you are passing the loop back and forth right in front of your feet instead of out in front of your feet you will find more. This automatically forces you to overlap your swing much more than you would ordinarily and you will hit more targets at depth.

Forgot to say - and this may be of interest to Willy, the little chrome gizmo is the head off a thumb tack found at about seven inches. It barely gave a weak, whiney, signal so I scraped away some chips and it got stronger each time I scraped. Just shows how sensitive the 250 is to this tiny stuff.

That Ike looks real fine Bill. I wonder how long it will take for someone to find one of those new $1 coins?

You did hit on several things, Bill. Looking outside the area you intend or gravitate towards normally, is often a payoff. It pays to stand up straight now and then, stretch out the cricks and see what else might be there.

Shortening the shaft a bit does help to tighten your swings. Makes it easier to swing for longer periods, too.

The ACE is more sensitive than many realize. It helps to crank the sens to realize this, which can be a problem in the wrong areas. But it does pick out the itsies.

Way to go Bill!!! When I found the 1977 Ike (Awhitster was with me) I dang near fainted. It's probably the largest coin a person would ever find. And HEAVY!!! As for the swinging. I have mine short enough that I actually hit my feet sometimes. I think thats short enough...eheh..

I don't know. I keep looking and keep circulating some and hoping. Hope they don't hoard them and wait as long as they did to turn loose of the SACS. Course I have about 37 of those but should have had a lot more like the lucky Aussies and Canucks.

Well done Bill,
That looks like a tidy haul.

:crazy:SHOW OFF !:cheers:LOL Congratulations!
Is there anything better at finding coins than the ACE 250 ?? I can't imagine so.
