the monetary system backed by pulltabs and bottle caps instead of gold!! This hobby can be frustrating at times. Just like fishing..... Thank goodness I dont play golf.....lol

dlh,

All hobbies can be flustrating at times. Putting in the time digging all the trash leads to the good finds.

I myself just enjoy being outdoors.

Ditto...don't discoint that signal next to trash as more trash. I used to be tempted to pass by the second signal next to can slaw or foil thinking its another piece of the same.

I hit an iffy signal last night, one of those that make you say..."maybe", seen a piece of can just sticking out, pulled it out of the ground and thought I would check it again....The signal was alot better and soon dug up a clad quarter @ 5"! (with the Vaq of course) :) Dang little machines are just so cool to run!

Been there a million times, just give it more time sooner or later you'll hit it ! Good luck!!!!!!! Tigerhank68

They are cool little machines! By digging a lot of aluminum I am learning pretty much what a pull tab sounds like when the coil passes over. Bottle caps are a different story. What I found was the sharp high pitch the pulltabs make and the crushed aluminum cans the way they sometimes never disc out. The positive side is if I get used to these sounds and I pass over a good target I might be able to tell the difference by a different tone. I dont mind.......learning is all a part of it and like hardrockminer said.....it is good to be outdoors. I am determined to learn this machine and If I keep digging I will.

I was thinking the same thing friday after digging bullets all day! I try to tell myself any time I put on my V is just gonna help me to get better at learning the nuances and hopefully will help to increase my treasure to trash ratio.
