Met up with Coinjumper and Big Ken and together the 3 of us hunted an old park which once was part of a LA plantation many moons ago. It was great meeting up with them and having a small group hunt / get together on the West Bank of the Mississippi River (which is also across the river from the site of the Battle of New Orleans aka Chalmette Battlefield). This spot had produced some silver coins in the past... and also produced a few nice finds today and a fair amount of clad too  The late afternoon weather was sunny and warm. Thanks for looking and thanks to Coinjumper for the invite and friendship. CCH

Great video as always CCH. Congrats on that BIG silver ring. My goodness, that thing looks huge. The grounds look so nice and pretty and I loved seeing the big Mississippi. Glad you could get out and play a bit after fulfilling your duty. Thanks for posting and HH, Nancy

Great video and a very nice silver ring. I'm jealous you guys are in short sleeve shirts and I'm hunting in 40 degree wheather. lol

Always enjoy the videos EJ, keep them coming.

Another fun video, CCH! That park area had a bit of everything to find, a little something for everyone.

Had a blast with you guys Saturday. It does go to show you that you can find anything just about anywhere. Look forward to MDing with you and CoinJumper soon!

Welcome to the forum Ken, you are lucky to have a hunting partner like EJ.

Well widebody.... I was using my OTW (other than white's) machine at the time BUT it was in the car, I did that so I could get some of the trash out of there so these two gentlemen could get some good finds and they'd want to come hunt with me again

You rock coinjumper. I would say they found some darn good finds because of you! HH, Nancy

Welcome aboard BigKen. Nice seeing your finds and hope you visit us often. HH, Nancy

Hey EJ, found this older post about some musket balls found about an hour south of where we were. Thought you might enjoy.

Thanks BigKen,

Initially i noticed the musket ball you found was extremely large compared to most civil war round balls that I had found so I had a feeling that it may have come from the War of 1812 "Battle of NOLA". ... especially because of our location near the MS river. Then when you found the Brass Rivet, I started to question myself and lean toward the Civil War era. However, I know of Reggie (who wrote the article in 2008 / link you posted) and I also am a member of the SHRAA Club. They are an extremely knowledgeable bunch of MDters and the most professional about this hobby that I know of. With this new info, I am most positive that you've found a musket ball from 1812. It is an awesome find BigKen and I'm glad I was there to catch it on video.

Great hunt EJ, Ken and coinjumper. Welcome Ken . . .nice find on the musket ball ! EJ I finally had a chance to watch this vid. I have to say your videos are some of the most pleasant and enjoyable to watch. If I ever have the chance I'm going to have to take you up on your offer of some "Nawlins" (hope I got it right) hospitality. Only problem is I have an ex-wife lurking SOMEWHERE in your wonderful state. Look out for her . . .she's a mean one. JK If you're ever coming out this way don't hesitate to let me know . . .

Coinjumper was using a White's QXT. Also, thanks Scott for the video compliments. I enjoy making them for sure but I got a long way to go. BTW - the open invitation remain's open to anyone on this forum for MDting. Just shoot me a message. Coins or Relics. CCH.
