MD for cops

I don't post much but I had to tell this story. I finally got the police dept. that I work for to purchase a MD ace 250. I knew that we would use it for bullet/shell recovery so most if not all items will be on the surface. I took my partners out for about an hours to show him how it works. I told everyone that it takes a long time to learn what the machine is telling you but no one really believed me. By the end of the hour I could tell they were getting frustrated. I think they thought we would find a million dollars in the back of the police station. I noticed that they were not paying attention to the audio tones at all and every beep they thought it was gold. So at the end I dropped my wedding ring and about 5 min later they found it. They laughed when they realized I had dropped it for them. That find re-energized them to want to keep going. I saw the inner child come out with them because they started having fun. It was really nice to see.

Excellent story Mike my son is a detective at our local police station here in Illinois so i know the value a metal detector can be for a department and im sure yours will use that garrett ace 250 many times. Thanks for taking the time to teach others the proper way to use one and to make it fun for them...Markmac

Doesn't Garrett make a detector just for law enforcement? Seems to me I have seen one that is basically a 250 or 350 (not sure?) but the ID panel is different. However I could be wrong..........

Garrett has two CSI packages one is the CSI Pro and the other is the CSI 250.
The face plates are different from the ATPro and the ACE 250. I am sure the tuning may be tweaked a bit also.
For example the CSI Pro does not have the PRO or COIN mode on the face plate.
