Hi All, new to detecting and picked up a used at pro. The $0.36 I found I really had to work for the fist day Ha, but I'm lovin it! Really looking forward to learning the machine. I must admit after a lot of research and much time spent on this forum made my decision for me. Thanks all!

Welcome. You did well selecting the A T Pro. It is a great coin shooter and truly loves old silver and old coins in general. Good luck and keep us abreast of your finds. HH jim tn

Welcome to the forum! There are a lot of veteran AT users here with a ton of knowledge of the machine! What types of areas do you plan on hunting? I hunt old schools, farms, woods but, my main forte is trashy worked-out parks. My advice is to get used to the tones, consult the VDI numbers at first to get an idea of where things show up, but don't strictly rely on the numbers. Once you start getting deep targets, the numbers will jump all over the place, especially if there is iron in the hole with it. If you get a signal that is faint and semi-repeatable 2-way hits, bump up the sensitivity to max to see if the tone improves. If you get a good hit one way and the other way you get iron nulls, 99 times out of 100 it is a nail. HH!

Hey Eric, one of the reasons I got the atp is that I live practically on Lake Erie, beaches and parks galore. Plenty of metro-parks with woods around also. I've thought of a few old homesteads and farms and will look into those also. When hunting woods, do you stick mainly to historical areas or just woods in general? What are your primary targets when hunting them?
