Found this today next to a farm house that I'm told is around 200 yrs. old in Western NY. The red gemstone seems to be some kind of plastic and is mounted like it would be if it were a ring. There is a tab on the back that is bent over like it might have hooked around something and there are two holes on the one edge. Maybe to hang? There is paint on the corner shapes. Could it just be trim from an old lamp or something? Or maybe something to wear?

There were horses on this property up until about 30 years ago. This is interesting and fun!

perhaps a adjustment for a scarf Slides up or down for tightening the neckerchief or something of that order..
