I just noticed that when I turn my mxt on I get sort of a crackling sound through my headphones. It does this when ever I turn it on and off . So far it has no effect on it's hunting ability. Just wondering if something is wrong with mine or maybe it's normal?
 
I think it is normal, mine has always done the same thing, I am sure others will come on and say,
I just thought it had to do with powering up and down.
 
My MXT is noisy also. Nature of the beast !
I Just use volume controlled headphones with barely audible sound.
 
Nearly every detector I've used cracks/burps (so to speak) when turning on the power. I don't think it's a bit unusual.
