Maybe gold for 2011

Greetings for 2011 !

Went out today here in Jacksonville for a short hunt and found the usual clad, but also hit a small compass charm, a little kids ring and a 24" 14 kt. gold chain or so the inscription says on the clasp. The weather today was 70 degrees so took advantage of the sunshine. It has been a cold winter so far. I know I know what you are going to say, but I just got back from a Texas, Alabama, North Carolina, and Virginia tour of friends.. and saw some snow. I enclosed a pic of that gold plated quarter I found about a month ago in a tot park. Some company was plating them and selling them for a bit of green. Something different, oh well stay warm and we all look forward to the good ole summer days...

Sounds like good weather to get out in...
and it looks like you have a good chunk of gold if it the real deal.

Yepper,

My wife got home an we cleaned it up and it is real gold, not a bad way to bring in the new year. Rang in as foil/gold VDI 16 and jumping !

Great hunt Marty! Do you do anything with the scrap gold you find like......melting it down and make your wife something with it? Or you? HH and thanks for posting, Nancy

I have been just saving the bit of gold pieces that I have found. I like to look at the finds once in awhile, but think I may put the rings on craigslist for sale sometime. I think the gold rings are worth more than their melt value. I personally do not wear any gold except for a wedding band. Even my watch is a Walmart sport special. Not the flashy type. Wife has all the bling. What do you think Nancy?

What do I think? Don't sell them. Take the scrap and the rings to a well known reputable jeweler and create a pendent, bracelet, a one of a kind that is special for that special wife of yours that DOES like that bling! You'll be her knight in shining armour plus you'll be able to look at "your" finds in a whole different way. :clapping: Nancy

I weighed the chain and it came in at 17 grams. Very pleased with the scale. I had no expectation on this hunt, just wanted to get out for a few hours like all of us do after work. Slap on the head phones zone out and listen to the music of the detectors. A great hobby, pure sport, healthy alternative to the couch, surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses online and in person. What else could a man or woman ask for? Thanks for being out there people. Marty
