Maybe an XTerra?

Hi, Not to start any wars here, but I am presently using a Tejon and I am toying with the idea of an XTerra 50. Most of my hunting is around cellar holes and home sites for old coins. Has anyone used both? What would the XTerra do for me that the Tejon won't? How do they do for depth, and working trashy areas? Thanks for any help you can give me .

Well the obvious differences are the TID and the four tones. Both are useful, but sometimes the changes in tones on the 50 can get a little irritating, if the machine can't make up its mind. Both are well built, and balance well. The 50 runs on 4-AA's, and they last a long time. The Tejon runs on 8-AA's, and I don't think their life is nearly as long. The disc. and alt. disc., as you know, is a nice feature to have. The 50 does run very smoothly, and my Tejon is sometimes more clicky. Trashy areas-when the 50 comes out with a smaller coil, I'll assume it will be great in trashy areas. Presently, I think it's a little tough, with the tone changing rapidly picking up more than one target. Depth-I'd say the Tejon may be a little deeper, but not by a whole lot. The 50 is extremely easy to use, and would be a good complement to the Tejon.

I have an Xterra-70 ,and a Tejon,,,as well as other detectors.......I have been using the above mentioned more than my others lately.....I use the Tejon on Sidewalk tear-outs,,,set disc on the o in foil, and dig all positives......It works out well for me...But when I go to a park,or somewhere with a good mix of trash,I try my xterra...
About depth.......I think my Xterra does better, expecially in disc mode......Maybe I have a cold Tejon,,,it airtests a nickle at 8 1/2- 9 inches....I have not airtested my XT yet.....But it picks up everything my Tejon does in disc.,and it has All Metal Motion Mode ,and a (audio only) Prospecting made..
I like the 1-4 tone option of the Xterra, and it will even give 99 tones as a next option, but I don't like all that flutey sounding noise so I usually go with 2,3, or 4 tones......
Xterra seems a nice compliment to the Tejon, and was easier for me to learn than was my XLT..Well I am still learning its computer/tone generated language,,but Minelab has kept the Xterra simpler to program than thier Quatro,or Explorer I guess,,,,,and definatly easier to set up than say a whites DFX,or XLT for maximum performance, and I appriciate that..
I still have allot of fun with my Tejon,,,and I think my Xterra has allot of potential too..
