Well , found out I have hearing impairment one ear worse than the other one,no wonder having problems trying to manually G.B..Thinking about maybe a del leon with digital face and pre-set G.B. Does anyone have this problem with hearing loss ? Good mercy hearing aids $ 3300 a pairI could buy a detector that wakes me up and fixes coffee for this priceDoes anyone have any feed back on the pre-set G.B. on the del leon and how accurate is the read-out?Sure hate to think about getting rid of my minty Vaquero ,but maybe the del leon will come close to it.
Hard to move on from this Vaquero to some thing else,if you have any feedback on another model let me know.
It's not all that huge of a deal if the Vaq isn't perfectly balanced, for optimum hunting sure but even if it isn't it still works fine.
I hunted areas where it varied wildly, sometimes every 10 feet, and after awhile I just balanced at the start of the hunt and that was it...and still found stuff.
Still, if it makes you feel better a pre-set unit seems logical.
For hearing aids you need to know these are some of the most ridiculously marked up health products on the market.
Those and glass frames and lenses.
If you knew how much these things actually cost to produce you would be shocked.
I had a customer that sold Belltone hearing aids and told me much, let's just say if you want to get rich get into that business.
If you want them, or just one, join a Costco if you have one near you.
Still expensive but hundreds less for similar products from others and dirt cheap on large blister packs of batteries...also another scam product.
Funny thing, I was just out In the yard on my test garden today doing a little messing around with my Deleon and a Tejon,. I have got to say, Every time I pick my Deleon up I am impressed. It hits real strong on a 7 inch deep quarter I have in my test garden, With the sensitivity maxed it will get a good 95 reading on it even with the coil hovering 2" over the ground. The meter reads 9 inches. So, that part is accurate. The numbers are pretty consistent if you pay attention and tighten up your swing when it flashes a good number. All metal gives you some clues also. Go for it!!! I have had great success with the Deleon!!!
Get your Vaq modded to the high tone @ the factory., that and a decent pair of cans should hit all the marks and not cost more than a couple hundred, without learning a new machine.
I've read in the past where someone wrote: "The DeLeon is a Vaquero with a screen."
I don't know about this, but I do love my DeLeon. For general coin and jewelry hunting, I can't imagine it getting much better.
But of course, what do I know, my MD career spans just 5 months. I still learning to crawl.
Seriously, my whole family are after me to buy hearing aids. I figure when I can no longer hear the sweet sounds of my DeLeon, then hearing aids it will be.
Presently, I don't need no darn help. They need to talk louder and speak proper English. Baffling why so many people can't even speak properly. Slurring words.
like working with the old man around the house I say grab me this while your there and he doesn't come back with it deaf as a beetle so I just save my energy and get it myself I must need the exercise
its only frustrating if I expect him to hear me and the reality is he cant so I have to change cause he doesn't give a sh$t

I vote for the DeLeon. With the life time warranty, you can go ahead and buy one to prepare yourself as a super senior.
In comparison to the few other MD I've used, the Deleon has the most accurate visuals going. Since you will be a SS, no need to worry about digging beyond 7". Up to 7" the D is hugely accurate.
Just do it.

I really like my D. I've had no problem with the ground IN MY AREA and have found a lot of coins with it. The TID is really pretty accurate and the depth often surprises me. All in all, I've been quite satisfied with it.

Buy a pair of Gray Ghost Ultimate headphones and I think it will solve your hearing problems.
They are the best sounding headphones I ever used. They don't sound "tinny" like KillerB's and Sunray Golds...I prefer more bass the Gray Ghosts provide.
I have owned both the Deleon and the Cortes and the Vaquero. The meters are small on the Deleon and Cortes and hard to see if your eyes aren't the best.
Lots of people love them and make some good finds with them, but I would take the Vaquero any day over them for the better depth it provides. Good luck with whatever you decide on.
The numbers and everything else about the screen is easier to read than the Cortes. Tesoro even states this on Deleon info on their site.
One would have to be almost blind not to be happy with the DeLeon screen.
I love mine.
The only thing better might be VID on a Vaquero. A new detector called a DeVaq
