I found this in a soybean field in west Tennessee. It is very heavy. Notice the 5 pointed star on the under side.
 
Looks like it's made out of lead?! Almost the shape of a sink plug! I think it might be a stopper, but the handle like part on top throws me off a bit.:)
 
Looks to be a sink stopper. The piece on top would have had a small ring through it and a small chain attached to that so you could pull the stopper out without reaching into the water.
