We have lived in Bartow county for over 20 years but this home is in a very good place. It backs up to woods that connect with 1000s of acres of land between Cassville and Two Run creek. Plus the property directly behind it is a home that dates to the pre-war era, it was outside of town in 1864 so it survived the burning. These woods were full of Hardee's and Polk's corps before and on day one at Cassville, then one day two it was full of the federal horde. I know that several CS plates have come out of the area. Also the largest sports complex in NW GA is about 1/4 mile away. This property is a detectorist's dream!
Cassville was the hub of NW GA before Sherman the hun burned it. It had two colleges and three hotels, now it has one small store. The enemy gave a few minutes notice to the women and children of Cassville who escaped with almost nothing. Many of them camped in huts along the side of the cemetary after that. Apparrantly some snipers had taken shots at his supply line so, in his barbaric style, he went after the women and children of the area.
I hope we get the home, I hate moving but i'll hire someone to do most of it. It will be nice to just walk out the back door and start relic hunting!
