Maximum depth of Minelab CTX 3030

Hi friends
Please tell me the maximum depth that CTX 3030 can detect a 30*30 cm metal in soil. I do not want to find coin.
Thanks

This is really a very specific question with way too many variables to be able to say.

Soil mineralization, trash content, EMI, swing speed, program discrimination, etc...

30 cm x 30 cm, you are talking about a piece of metal almost a foot square! If that piece of metal were laying flat and you were using the standard coil, I would estimate that you should get a good signal no less than 12" - 14" deep, probably more. If you were using the 17" coil it should be even deeper. A lot will depend on soil moisture and mineral content, iron interference, EMI, speed of swing, machine settings (discrimination, sensitivity, etc.). I can tell you that I have dug a 12" quarter and a 9" dime and yet, there have been times when my friend can pick them up and I can't and they will be even shallower. I don't know why.

Bottom line is, there is no set correct answer to your question

Hi
Thanks for your guidance.
My friends I am searching for a detector that it can detect a 30*30 cm metal up to 1.5 meter depth in normal soil.
Can CTX 3030 this work?
A coin is not Treasure. Treasure has 200 gold coins at least, ok?
Regards

It might depend on if the coins are in a metal box or something like that. If the coins are just in deep hole by themselves.....Maybe or maybe not....a lot would depend on your soil.

I think you are expecting too much from from a metal detector that was designed to find coins and jewelry items, you will do much better with a box type of detector designed for cache hunting.

It is funny what some people consider treasure....... I have found some little treasures that were worthless to everyone except the person or family that an item was returned to, to them the found "treasure" was priceless.

I civil war relic hunt and in good soil my deepest finds have been single 58 caliber minnie balls at 16" measured. I posted a video on youtube I took with my phone. You can look it up under ctx 3030 digs a 16" minnie ball. A 12" square pc in good soil could be 3 feet.

At 1.5 meters you will probably have to go up to a quality Pulse Induction machine. Some of these can make the price of the CTX look like peanuts, but, if you are confident about 200 gold coins, you could see a handsome return on your investment.

It sounds like he may be searching for Forrest Fenn's treasure chest.

Cutting to the chase for just this one target type. Two box RF units will hook you up in spades and beyond. (They are designed soley for this kind of work and easy to run.)

I'm in the same pickle ... Does a two box work well in a high mineralized soil with hot rocks?? If so which one? I'm looking for a caches also

I've found many beer cans, crushed and not, at 18"+/- at the beach with my Safari and stock coil. I would imagine that a 12x12" max depth would be measured in feet and not in inches.

1.5 meters is almost 58.5 inches (or almost 5 feet) deep. You'll need something other than the CTX3030 for that.

Detecting at 1.5 meters you'll need a $pecialty deep seeking detector or a set of divining rods, divining rods do work.
You might be able with a CTX to detect a Sherman tank at that depth though!

Far as how deep a CTX can detect a coin?
Don't have a CTX but its little brother an eTRAC. I've found many Indians and silver dimes at 12+ inches.
My record was an elbow deep merc at 14 inches and a 1 inch dia. brass medallion a little deeper all using a NEL Tornado coil.
Don't expect typical coin IDs at those depths at least with the eTRAC.
I'd suspect a CTX with its FBS2 and an experienced user should be capable of detecting a coin maybe a little deeper.

Can you tell us anything about the type of soil your in? is it high or low mineralization? is it damp or dry? Also, What is the deepest your able to find a silver dollar or anything else in this particular area with the CTX? Will there be lots of iron in the area? IS the metal an iron, steel or what type.

I tend to believe that if the soil is clean, non mineralized, a bit damp, that you can hit a 12x12 (30x30cm) flat metal object in the ground at 18 inches to 2 feet. Ive hit brass at least that deep and half the size. But Im also sure that the situation allowed me to do that and that in other instances ive passed large things up with the detector that ive dug by accident.

What detector are you using now? and how deep are you getting with it?

Give us some detail and maybe we can give you more.

good luck,
shov
