Masterhunter 7x coil question

RELIC_HUNTER

New member
This machine is used for relic hunting only. I am looking for depth only, raw punching power. Are the stock coils,CrossFire, sufficient or should I look at after market coils for depth....Thanks

For raw depth, the larger the coil, the better the depth. Some guys have had some good experiences with after market coils. Quite often they are built 1" larger in diameter and boast that it is deeper. That could very well be the case. Personally, I have 2 after market coils. The one for my GTI1500/GTI2500 doesn't work any more. It used to work OK, But now it just makes the detector sound off in over-size target sound, unless I paste a penny on the coil. The components inside must have dried or changed in positioning for it to go out of tune. And because it wasn't a Garrett coil, I can't get it replaced. The other coil is fine as far as I know.

The Garrett stock coils work good. I have used the standard Crossfire coil (older model), the 12 1/2 coil (old model) and the new 7" x 10" PROformance coil. All worked satisfactory. I am not aware of any after market coils available for the Master Hunter series, but there could in fact be some. Personally, I feel the manufacturer knows it's equipment best, and would probably build a better quality coil. The true all metal mode is a real asset in the Master Hunters Series.

Why not go for the 10x14 DD Garrett coil for raw depth in any kind of ground. I have a field test on that one at losttreasure.com
