Master Hunter CX III question

Lloyd H

New member
Hi everyone can anyone tell me what they think about the older garrett CX III with talk feature? they have one on ebay for sale and I like the features.how does it compare with Garrett's current detectors? I think I would love to have it .thanks Lloyd

What is your location?
the CX 111 is a great detector packed with features but does not handle Australian mineralisation very well.
I had one for a short while but it was not suitable in the ground conditions that I was using it in. It will be good in low to very mild iron mineralisation.

Oh man, what a great machine!:garrett::detecting:Even better if it's got Powermaster! 20% deeper! No joke! Great machine! It's like a step up from the old GTA 1000. In fact, I don't even know why Garrett calls it a Master Hunter because it's not like any of the other Master Hunter series It's more like a GTA. It doesn't have the dual range discrimination feature like the other Master Hunters. It is a great machine with some very good features, though. I've still got my old one. It does stay in storage most of the time, 'cause my wife and I are full time RVers and need to travel lite. I do break it out every now and again and swing it around. Perhaps my favorite feature on it is the true all metal mode with manual or auto ground balance. It takes any of the old Crossfire coils as well as the GTA 10"x14" double "D". It can also use that two-box Treasure Hound for cache hunting/very deep larger items. If I were you I'd jump on it, man. Did I mention that it's a really great machine?:biggrin:Hey, here's some useful links:

It has the true all metal mode with the Power Master circuitry, giving it great depth. The talking feature is now obsolete, making it a collecters item. Buy it!

Hello Loyd,If it is the one with the power master circuitry GRAB it .It really is a magnificent machine and dont even worry about comparing it to other machines its better than the GMT by far .It is very sensitive to small targets and has very good depth...good luck
