Pappydoodle, I do like the ADS7 because it has a lovely VLF discriminate with a coin bell tone. The analog meter on it tells you the likely coin you have found.
The Deepseeker ADS has TR discriminate which is a older design and a little slower. On the beach this doesn't matter though, because you want to dig all anyways to increase your odds for goldie goodies. The TR is good for ore testing, which is why it was kept on the Scorpion Gold Stinger.
On the Master Hunter 7 ADS and the Master Hunter 7X, they take different coils. The 7x was made only one year 1989 I think. It had a transformer installed to take the newer Crossfire coils and ran at a higher frequency than the original 5.5khz.
While this may sound better, the old fella I bought my ADS7 from, beach detected every day rain or shine, in a year he had 2 Danish Butter cookie cans heaped full of gold rings with that ol' girl. He upgraded to the 7X and said it sadly, it wasn't as good a ring finder as the ADS7 was, perhaps it was due to the lower 5.5khz performing better in heavy black sands on our Pacific Northwest ocean beaches.
These old ADS machine do well in heavy mineralization, just ask the Aussie who found the Hand of Faith nugget in Australia with the Deepseeker ADS.
It weighed 62lbs I believe.
