Massive F70 run out of my territory this am...

A 50 mile one way run ending at Cabelas...Plotted it carefully for days, left the house at 5am...hit the first totter, not bad, but not good and heavy like a fellow would expect for a Sat am at a schoolyard...should have a weeks worth of loot or more in here...Next totters were swept so clean, it was amazing!..I got like 10 cents out of them, all pennies!
I wonder who this guy is and when he hunts? every night after school? Even the mains were swept clean...no eraser ends, very small foil if any, He did have a habit of leaving the zipper ends under all the slides, probably his form of a "tell penny"...It became a challenge to try to find something, so I really dropped sens (mid 30's) and got up tight to the structure..even crouched down and long shafted underneath everything...outstanding work whoever this guy is..:please: Came to respect his skills....I did find some loot up tight on the signals that disrupt the overload, not a nice crisp ping, but something strange about the overload that tells of an alternate metal in there up close...maybe 15 totlots...an assortment of strata too..I got into a few pea gravel lots where I thought I'd clean up since they are so hard to work...figured, no way can this guy handle pea gravel...wrong!

Swung off into some side neighborhoods, thinking no way he hits those out of the way little community parks, tucked way back in out of view and all.....wrong again! Had to get creative and work areas nobody else would think of working just to pick up random stragglers...maybe made 5 bucks tops...shoulda been a solid easy 15-20 on a run like this..anyway, it was an eye opener, theres some really good competition out there, and a fellow knows pretty quickly just how good they are by whats left...much respect here for this guy..I'm gonna have to make this run again someday, with that big coffee can full of rotten zincs I've been saving for just such a purpose, scatter them around good and proper!...that should keep him busy for a while, and not making a run into MY territory! Is this wrong? (kidding of course)

That sucks! Make a good long planned swing and come up near dry. Now you know how us old silver hunters feel several days a week.

The rotten zinc's will slow him down, but I have found a baseball bat across the shins works even better. Just kidding.

A few year's ago we had a seeded club hunt and someone did the rotten penny throw on one of our fields. We never found out who, but the $1000.00 reward for his capture still stands. HH jim tn

Well, I would relish a rotten penny throw at a seeded club hunt, just to make things interesting and "real world"...I will gladly turn myself in for the 1000 dollar reward and put this matter to rest!...I did learn a lot today...I'm not as good as I thought for starters!...:sadwalk: Yet sort of proud in a way to try to figure out how he hunted and find what he might have missed...so it was a good learning experience..I've got another big run in mind for tomorrow, and I'm now doubly more bloodthirsty and pistoff than ever! Revenge hunting is a powerful motivator!...I'll make it up, I think I've got this guy figured out as far as where his "boundaries" are!..Lets just hope he hasn't cloned himself...:rofl:

Oh, how I know what you are talking about on the tot lots. I have not been detecting tot lots. Just for that reason, maybe get 10 pennies out of a lot. It just didn't pay to spend 45 minutes or more there. Mud you don't know about a spot until you get in there and work it. Sometimes it works out and you pick up a lot of coins but again some don't work out and you go home with 20 coins for the day. I hope it was a scenic run? If it was at least you got to see something different. Sorry for your disappointing hunt but there is always tomorrow. Great post Mud thanks......Z

Yeah Zeek, totlots are either really good or really poor hunting..depending upon if theres a regular working it...good thing is a guy can tell right quick if its a winner or not..It was a scenec run, especially after i got into Cabelas!

Now though, I'm wondering? What would be the punishment dealt out by Jimmy and his crew if they had caught the reprobate who salted their seeded hunt? Maybe sharpen all their lesches?
Maybe a heart felt apology? Maybe do penance by toting these old guys to their doctor appointments for a week, walking their dog, or listening to their stories? How bad could it be? Definitely worth a grand! I bet whoever did it waded in there with an F70 after they were gone and sniped all the buried silver at his leisure! Which gives a morally bankrupt young fellow like me other ideas, I mean, how much old silver does an old guy need anyway!

:yikes: I did see another mudpuppy on this site. :yikes:

I had the same thing happen to me at a pair of Volleyball courts. I couldn't even find a gum wrapper! It's a 15 mile drive and usually produces some nice finds. Maybe people are learing too much on this stupid internet?!

I feel your pain mud!! When I first started 4 or 5 years ago I was the only one hunting in this area. Now I see people out looking almost weekly, 4 or 5 of my friends have all bought machines and are hinting to tag along----should have kept my mouth shut!
