Massive Axe Head and Button.

I found this very large ax head and button in my front yard today. Any suggestions on how I should clean this button? This is the first button I have found so not really sure what I am doing (only been hunting for two weeks).

Thanks.

Very nice relics. Love the axe head....electrocute that baby. The button I'd say a shortened tooth brush (bristles), soap and water.

Agree with the cleaning mentioned above. CCH

Yeah! That looks like an axe used for hewing timbers...making square beams out of round logs...all those marks you see on the timbers in old barns were cut by a MAN swinging that thing! It looks like you may be able to clean it up enough to actually use it, course hewing axes had a skewed handle, so you will have to make your own too, out of hickory or maybe ash. That is if you ever want to hew out a beam, which is comparable to swinging a minelab all day!. Great finds!:clapping:
