Mask Proceedure

What is the proceedure you use to mask out a certain item. Do you wave the object in front of the coil and hit a button or what?

close you hit a button then wave the object in front of the coil, or better yet put the target on top of the ground in a place you will be hunting, and sweep over it

After finding several certain items that I no longer wish to dig I will place the item(s) on the ground surface then set the Explorer up for rejecting the target(s).
Setting up the Explorer:
From the main menu I press 'Display' and from that screen I press 'Learn'.
From the 'Learn' screen I will see my present hunting program displayed.
I then prepare to sweep over the items by positioning my coil next to and near but not over the items to be rejected, at the same time I place my thumb on the "X" button on the left side of the screen and ready it to press the button.
Now I begin to sweep only over the target(s) so as to hear all of them, when I'm ready I will press the "X" while continuously sweeping. you will have to pause your sweep a few times to get the rejection spot but it will be displayed as the item(s) begin to get rejected and you can tell if it's being done correctly.
When I think the items are sufficiently rejected I again press the "X" button to stop the rejecting process. The one thing that is important is to continue sweeping over the targets before, during, and after pressing the "X" button. For example- begin sweeping; press the "X"; reject the targets; press the "X" agian; stop sweeping. If done correctly it shouldn't take more than 30 seconds to complete the process.
Now back in Detect mode go over the item(s), they should no longer give any signal.
This is for in the field, let me know if it's what your looking for or if I can clarify any of this, or maybe others will discribe another way.
