mark II - infinium Ls

Hi I have a Mark II that gave me lot of satisfaction in salt water. What do you think go to buy Infinium ls .
Which coil to use for research in salt water with Infinium?

Many thanks

The MK II Sea Hunter is easier to use in salt water and is more stable than the Infinium in those conditions, on the other hand I feel that the Infinium detects deeper but is a bit more difficult to use in salt water but only because you might have to fiddle with the discrimination control to get the detector to run quiet.
As far as the coils are concerned, the mono's are more sensitive than the DDs. The 8 inch mono is a beaut coil and is easy to manage in the water. The big mono will let you cover more ground but with only a marginal increase in depth over the 8 inch on up to largish coin size items, past that size the big mono will get significant better depth. The DDs tend to be more stable in the water than the monos but can get flipped about by wave action.

The 5 x 10 DD is a good beach coil but is not WP. This coil is less effected by elec interference than the monos and large DD and runs nice and quiet over the salt sand.

Just an opinion. Not Gospel.

Infinium is very good for salt water. It's not as stable in the surf as the MKII, but it really just takes some getting used to hearing all the tones and just distinguishing between good targets and the sounds of wave action and such.:wiggle:
8" mono coil rocks:super: So does 10"x14" mono
5"x10" DD is water proof and submersible, but only rated for wading(hip-depth or chest deep). Same with 3"x7" DD. Only for wading/surf, not diving.
All other Garrett coils for LS are rated at 200' diving depth.:garrett::detecting:
Another totally awesome thing about the Infinium is the discrimination tones and iron disc(or reverse disc actually).
Feel free to ask for advice at anytime.:biggrin:Happy Hunting!:)

I own both .I like the MK2 the best ,I use my Infinium LS for backup.I have all the coils for the Infinium and use the 8 " mono most of time on both MD's. The 10 x 14 mono covers a lot of ground fast but,you will miss stuff with it.I hunt slow and find alot of Gold and silver other hunters miss. You can call me if you need any more facts. 239-331-1352 Ron Lord
