Mark II Disc. ?

SWMO Mark

New member
I was was reading the Mark II instruction manual to get a idea of its capabilities. In the section on Discrete disc. it says that you can disc. out pulltabs and still pickup thin gold rings. Does anyone know if this is true or bull? If it really can do this, how much depth is lost?

It's not bull, but you do lose considerable depth. It works best with the 8" search coil. You can discriminate out pulltabs and still get gold rings up to about four inches in depth, so you may be able to find recently lost rings in a pulltab infested area. You'll still be picking up iron pretty deep. When I try this with the 14" mono I still pick up the odd pulltab, but it works great with the 8". However, it's really best not to use any discrimination, because you could still miss some good targets. That Sea Hunter is a great machine, but remember, most gold is gonna be deeper than anything else because of the weight, so the least discrimination is best. You'll be able to find those rings that have been missed by all the VLF machines. Best of luck to ya.:biggrin:Happy Huntings:)

Thanks for the info. I figured it would lose a lot of depth, but there are some times in heavy trash where it would be nice to only go after the rings lost within the last couple of days. Since they would still be fairly shallow.
