I was wondering want is the difference between the mark I and the other mark models like the limited?

i have a mark1 ltd that is a 2 filter unit. i think others were 4 filter units. im no expert on the old teks but i do know that the mark 1 and ltd are the most wanted of them all.

Basically, the only difference is the case color on the LTD. I have heard forever that the Mark 1 Ltd was more sensitive than the mark 1, but that just ain't so!
I have 3 LTD's and one standard MK1, they all work perfectly and seem to have the same depth.
The 4 filter machines were the 9000 & 8500, plus the Eagle and Condor pro series.
The 7000 series machines were also 4 filter, 2 knob turn on and go detectors
All have some form of tone ID.

Other than the original Mark 1...there was a Mark III and Mark 1 LTD. The Mark III was somewhat stripped down with a smaller meter and less knobs. Performance was as good as the Mark 1. The Mark 1 and Mark III were first introduced in 1985. The Mark 1 LTD has a red control box and colored meter that indicated where zinc cents came in at. It also featured a red 7.25" coil. Performance was the same on all Mark 1s. Keith Wills of East Texas metal detectors has produced some Mark 1 units with parts obtained from the closeout of Tek Limited in the early 1990s. I have one of his units and a Mark III hipmount. Please don't inquire about the holster as it is custom made and the gentleman who manufactured it included it along with the package. Of which cost me a bundle.
