I know Google maps is all the rage, which is fine if you are using a newer computer with an operating system from this century......but.....not everyone fits in that category. For many years I have used a handy little client program call TerraClient which can be downloaded here:

It is a client front end for the TerraServer that has some very handy and easy to use controls/features. You can zoom, measure, change brightness and even overlay a road map. The road map is a little dated, late 50's early 60's I think. A cool feature is that you can control the transparency of the overlay very easily. The maps are B&W but I find they make geographic features pop out from the landscape better. There's also real time Long & Lat readout for GPS use.
