some gave us good suggestions
when will minelab make a update
like the CTX3030 but please a pinpoint buttom on top like the etrac

It takes a while to figure out what changes they are going to implement and then writing the changes into the code. I was going to check in with Digger to see if he could give us an update on any forthcoming updates.

I would not expect any thing soon think the beach problem in the water would be top of the list a lot of folks having trouble there. I am just guessing though. If they can fix that it would help sells of the detector for sure.

The CTX has only been in the hands of consumers for 2-1/2 months. Any issues that may be a problem, I'm sure Minelab will address those first. Only 2-1/2 months of consumer use is a very short period of time to base any updates or overhaul changes to the CTX. It was probably tested for many months, and by many testers, before the release. What some people think needs to be changed, others may think it's fine. Everyone has their own ideas and comfort zone, so if changes/upgrades are made, I'm sure those changes won't make everyone happy. There have been a lot of suggestions made as to potential changes to the CTX. And like Killmerg pointed out, Minelab would have to determine, what changes may be needed, and then go forward with them. That could take quite some time, just to verify that one "good" change doesn't adversely affect something else. I'm just glad I'm a user of the CTX and not one of the people doing the designing and upgrades..............With all that said, I'm not expecting any major updates or changes in the CTX for quite some time, so people from all over the globe can log hours on the CTX, and learn and get comfortable with the use of this detector. Then, with both positive and negative feedback on the CTX, they could make an assessment on things that may need upgraded or changed............HH

For some reason this "updatable" thing always makes me wonder. What is Minelab's motiviation to work on improvements/enhancements?

Have they publicly said " This is a product that will undergo improvements based on feedback in the coming months?"

I can see them addressing that shutdown issue or the headphone jack issue, those are to me "glitches" that warrant a "recall" aka a firmware update.

But I doubt Minelab will cater to requests or improvements on anything.

You would think anything on those lines will be in the CTX 4040 and FBS 3

Call me crazy but I know White's did this with the V3 line (users were stuck paying over $100 for units purchased before a certain date to goto the "i" version, which I think is just wrong......

Maybe, just maybe, we will see a 3030 Mk 11, I remember that feeling

when I purchased a Quattro, and a couple of months later along came

the Safari :ranting:

I hope they will be giving us some performance updates in the future. If not what was the point in advertising that it is updatable. For the price they are going to have to throw a few bones or the sale of the CTX will suffer I would think . Already a lot of them turning up on the classifieds. I love mine so far for the water and wet beach sand hunting have already found a decent amount of gold. Have not dug the first hole with mine dirt hunting yet but will be doing some of that this fall. I would not expect a update real soon. I know they know of the beach problem in the water and hope they are working on that.

Well, alot of people just feel the need to buy the latest and greatest thing out and without taking the time or effort to really learn to use the machine they sell it and move on the next "new toy". The primary use of the this detector is for coin and relic hunting that is water proof to 10 feet. I don't think Minelab really intended for it to be a beach/water machine primarily. They already have a flagship high end water machine in the Excal. I would think the problems reported such as hard to turn off, reboot issue and unknown error problems are the types of things they will focus to update. When you have millions of users you will always have millions of suggestions on what to improve and what 1 person might like, another may not, so they can't possibly cater to everyone's suggestions. I also think they will wait at least 'til it's been out for a year or so to see who the real CTX users are and who the poser's were before considereing suggestions and basically priortizing what is important and listening to the folks that actually use and stick with the detector.

They definitely monitor the posts on here. I am sure they have read them all(including other forums) and will be focusing on the majority of needs.. Whatever it is I am sure it will be good...
