Manual Sensitivity

When putting the ctx in manual sensitivity I noticed that you can bump up the sensitivity up to 30, however the other setting let's you adjust from -3 to +3... exactly what is this setting for? Not much is mentioned about this in the manual.

Thanks ya'll...HH

Go to the resource center. Scroll down to FREQUENTLY asked questions and click on that. Digger has the best explanation on sensitivity and how everything works that can be found. I might add that all of Diggers explanations regardless of subject are very good. HH :minelab:

Thank you very much :)

When you select Auto, you can offset the sensitivity positivly or negativly. By doing so, you can gain more depth. +1, +2, or +3 should be used in light to moderate mineralized soil. -1, -2, or -3 for highly mineralized soil. By using the Auto sensitivity option, you are allowing the processor to constantly adjust to the ground you are hunting. Basically like using the auto tracking in the Xterra 705. The processor is much better at selecting the sensitivity than most users, but that doesnt mean that you cant run the sensitivity as high as the machine can handle without falsing in manual. Try them both to see which works best for you. I have found in my low to mild soil, I can run Auto +3 all day long without any problems.

I hope that helps.

Yes, it does...thank you very much !!!

Auto sens is easy and performs very nicely in just about most conditions.

There are a few in which manual performs better.

Deep faint targets and auto could mistake them as ground chatter,... dropping sens on you and loosing the target without you knowing it.

Surface clad,.... yes I do on occasion like to hunt for surface clad. Our Euro-clad nearly always garantees a cup of coffee afterwards.
It's like clay pigeon shooting, nothing to do with hunting, but fun once in a while.
Anyway I don't need the detector going very deep and me digging large holes in the park. A low sens setting and a screwdriver to pop the target out is all you want.
