Manual ground balance

New member
I haven't had a problem GBing so far, but in trashy sites or with problem coils the numerical reference of GB came in handy on DFX (course & fine adjustment). Maybe I missed that page. Any comments?
So many new detectors, so little time. Dave

When you bring up the track live control, the control on the right is the tracking offset. you can increase it for positive balance, or decrease for negative balance. There was no need for course and fine ground balance options on this detector as it has a much more powerful processor in it.

The default tracking is automatic. You can turn off automatic tracking by selecting lock track. You can still do the fast track with pulling the trigger and pressing enter if lock track is on.

You can set the track offset for autotrac enabled different to when lock trac is enabled, so you can flip back and forth between autotrac and locktrac as you wish and not change the offsets each time you switch if they are different between the 2 modes.

The ground balance point can viewed as a phase number and a VDI number as well as the signal strength of the ground. This can be viewed by zooming in on the ground tracking live control and raising the loop waist high and zeroing (Enable ZERO) the instrument. Then put the loop down on the ground and it will report the phase of the ground. VDI number and signal strength on the right hand side of the screen. The Rx gain will come into play with the answer on the strength as lower the Rx the lower the strength.

If I recall, my MXT started up with a specific GB, 70 or something. Other machines also have a default start up GB. Is their a default GB for the Vision?

Thx

The very first time the detector is powered on, the default phase (in VDI units) is about -93. After that, the tracking constants are stored. So, if your ground phase is at -88VDI when you turn your detector off, the default phase will be at -88VDI when you power it on next. If you have lock track on, and you are hunting at the same place next time you hunt, you shouldn't have to re-ground balance. It of course won't hurt the machine to re balance if you wish.
