....and make a few finds on a 7 hr hunt on Monday. Made a brief stop at a tot-lot where I picked up a little clad and a junk post earring. I then went to a local State beach park and picnic grounds that has been a focal point of activity since at least the late 1800's and was "improved" in the 50's with parking lot, Ranger bldgs, etc. Pictured below is all my finds less the 10-15 bottle caps and foil scraps I threw out. The day's totals~ $ 2.99 in clad (7 quarters, 8 dimes, 6 nickels and 24 pennies), .22 short rimfire casing with "US" stamped on the back, a 12 ga shotgun shell end with "REM UMC". "SHURSHOT" and 12 on the back, A rotary pin with the words "Sembremos la Semilla de Amor", a house key, some relics, buttons/snaps ( the 2 most interesting are in the separate pic), some copper wire, a couple pieces of old glass, a pen and 2 pairs of glasses ( one is a pair of "Cool-Rays"). Last and most certainly least 15 round pull-tabs and 10 square tabs.
My persistence paid off as I made my 2 best finds in the last hour of the hunt, 2 wheat Pennies ! Modest yes but it was my first multiple wheatie day yet. I was pretty excited when I got home and was able to check the dates, One is a 1944 and the other is a 1927, no mint marks and both are in very good condition. Funny thing was even though I hunted all day long, after the batteries finally gave out it didn't seem like I had been hunting long at all. Anybody else experience this "time warp" when out hunting ? Hope you enjoy. Thanks.
