i just got the new digital meter for my sovereign GT and they didnt send any instructions with it. so , it has one cable coming out of it . where does that go and theres also a dial on the back to calibrate. how do i do that?
thanks guys in advance,
stan

Hi Stan,

Disconnect the cable that comes from the coil and goes to the control box,The coil cable will connect to the back of the meter and the cable that comes out of the meter will connect into the control box.The meter is just spliced into the circuit so the coil goes to the meter and the meter goes to the control box.
Now for calibration of the meter this has to be done in the disc mode as in all metal it will not ID and goes just by signal strenght.turn on the GT, set the threshold to a slight threshold hum and swing a quarter back and forth across the coil and try to keep this sound as steady as you can and the meter should read 180, if not turn the control on back of the meter until you get a 180, then it is calibrated.
Now the meter you got I hope is for a GT as the ones for the older Sovereigns I hear will not work if it is a Minelab digital meter, but a Sun Ray will work on them all.

hey thanks rick, the meter that i got is advertized as a digisearch digital meter for the sovereign GT. im going to hook it up and let you know how it works.
thanks,
stan

Imagine it helped more than one reading the answering posts. Take it slow as its a user friendly unit and am sure you will enjoy....Heres a tip the adjusting knob on the meter can be popped off quite easily and once you get it set to 180 just pop it back on with the white line facing straight up and if you bump or go to set it up at next area the white line should be very close to right on, but always adjust before using the next trip out...matter of fact know some guys just kept it popped off as its tough to bump out of calibration this way...

hi dan, i hooked the meter up tonight and did a calibration with a quarter and it locked on 180 every time. then i was saying to myself, geez this knob could really get bumped out of calibration pretty easy . ill check that method out. sounds like a real good idea to me. thanks ikon = stan pa.
