Nothing like an early morning hunt in a nice cool lake. 8:00 am Saturday morning found me in the lake again, swinging the AT Pro and the 5 x 8 coil and in detector heaven. After a rough week at work and home, the cool water and the beeps in my 'phones was just the right tonic to soothe my wretched soul. The first hour, targets were really sparse and then I remembered reading on a forum post the one should do a factory reset after installing new batteries. So I did and the water came alive!! I was hitting and scooping plenty of targets then!! Amazing, the AT Pro was her old self again and I was a happy wader!! It was kind of a strange day at the lake too. There were 2 sets of folks came down at different times for baptizing purposes. The first group was probably some Caribbean bunch as they were chanting and singing a language I have never heard before. I stopped and watched for about a 1/2 hour until they were finished. Then about an hour later, here comes another group. This time the chanting and singing were in Spanish. Again, I stopped and watched as they dunked several of the folks and much clapping and hugging went along with the chanting and singing. All very interesting!!
So, back to the water I went and continued with my hunt till about noon when the area became too thick with swimmers and dogs and the like. Here's my total take for the day!!

I managed two rings, one a silver Avery ring and one a junk copper. The other jewelry pieces are junk, but always nice to find. Here's some closeup shots of the Avery ring after a nice cleaning and polish.

I always like it when I find an Avery ring as I know they are top quality and if I have to sell them (never have), I can get a nice price.

Looks like a good take for a morning!

Nice hunting, BCD! You had the chance to save your "wretched soul" and passed on it?

No saving this wretched soul!! I got dunked when I was 10-11 yrs. old, didn't seem to take!! I ended up the miscreant heathen you see today!!!

Good one to sooth the nerves in that hunt.

It's good to see you getting out BCD! Detecting can be very theraputic.:detecting:
I wish it was summer hear. I was thinking about John B and his winter hunts as I headed to work at 5:50AM this morning on my pushy. It was just below zero (celcius.) Somehow I wouldn't head out in colder temps to go detecting.:ninja:
Mick Evans.

I don't think anyone is more dedicated to detecting than John B. I don't even try to keep up with that boy!! I'm with you, when the temp dips, I'm inside and warm. In fact, I can't fathom riding a bicycle at that time of the day at those temps.....brrrrrrrr!! You're a stouter man than me!!

I wouldn't mind giving him a run for his money (modern stuff that is!:bouncy:) but I'll have to move back to a more populated place to do that. The missus and I talked about that at the week end and it will become a reality in the long term. I sure wish our real estate was as cheap as you guys have. So John, when I finally do get to move; it'll be on!
