Man! I've been having lousy luck with the weather lately...

Seems every time I have a day off the temps plummet and it rains all day. Thursday it was 72 F. and sunny, today its 47, foggy and raining. Oh well, 2 more weeks and things will be back to normal!

Had to go detecting this morning despite the rain and cold but my old XLT suffered for it. About 4 hours into the hunt it started making strange noises and wouldn't shut off. Then it locked into overload and had no sound. Pulled the battery and called Conchita to pick me up. Hope its okay when it drys out.

The spot I went to is one found by accident while out for a drive about 5 years ago. Spotted day lilies growing along the side of a road and stopped to check it out. Sure enough, shards everywhere. The next day by buddy and I went and pulled out a whole whack of coins . Almost half of them were counterfeit.

Its not on my 1876 map so gone by then and may have been a hotel.

Calling it a day.

The coin dates in here are kind of strange. They go from about 1800 to 1860 then take a big jump to after 1910 but not many of those. The newer ones must have been lost by farmers or maybe pushed into the field when the road went from dirt to asphalt. Got a 1960 dime, a 1912 British three pence, an 1859 Indian, a 1833 To Facilitate Trade token and some kind of blacksmith token. My books are all packed so I'm going to have to wait until we move to check that one out. Could be a good'un!
