Those are silver certificates and worth alot more than their face value I believe.
Collectors will go crazy over them!

The story said he turned them in because of their condition.. $1,700.00 face value in silver certificates.


He would have gotten quite a bit more from collectors
 
Yea, oh well. Its still free money that he found.
