it was time to clean out my closets of all the things that I don't wear any more or better yet can't fit into any more :clapping:

Not sure after all these years why I decided to do this, maybe it was because I turned 52 yesterday but I'm not sure, I just decided it was time to clean out the closets yesterday morning . Funny thing is I never wore any thing that was in those closets, believe it or not the close that I wear I keep folded and stacked up on a few boxes in my bedroom for easy access

Heck, I don't even own a dresser or chest of draws or what ever you call them, you know, the things where must folks keep their close and grab the knob and open it and grab some thing to wear, I just never saw the need for one after all these years and still don't, I know most folks think I'm nuts and weird but thats ok, I guess I never got by that foot locker they gave me in boot camp during my time in the Marines, they made it so clear to me that you can do without less bagage

Those that know me know that I am a sweatshirt, T-shirt and jeans kinda guy, I don't like to dress up much but dress for comfort and ain't trying to impress any body so all through my life I have always tried to keep it simple for myself and the foot locker thingy has worked just fine thank you ;)

It is clear if I were married the foot locker thingy would not go over well  but at the same time if I were married I would not be the same General Ray or even be here with you fine folks posting my love for the history of the civil war and my passion for baseball and metal detecting, I think most of you understand where I am coming from

After I cleaned out my closets I ended up with 7 large big plastic bags of close and 13 jackets that I have not wore, some of these close and jackets were 20 years old and still had the price tag on them, one sweater had a price tag on it of $47.00, I never wore that sweater, it was given to me way back when but I never liked it, I hate it when friends give me close, I hate getting close and my closets showed it, they just kept building up over the years.

I had jackets that were never worn, shirts that were new, I had so much stuff that it even shocked me, it would have been easy for me to just take them out to the burn pile and burn them but I decided to give back some thing for the gifts that were given to me in my life time, I grew up poor and hungry and never forgot that, oatmeal was the main dish of the day because it was cheap and the only dish of the day most of the time mom and dad could feed 7 kids and I never forgot that or ever will.

So I loaded up my cheve with all those bags and jackets and made a trip to the Goodwill store, those folks were happy to see me and even thanked me for my donation, that real nice lady asked me would you like a reite sir, I told her no, I already was given it many years ago.

That felt good folks, just to give back to the poor, to give something, to snatch good things out of my life and give to somebody else made my birthday special, I will never forget it, and yes, it ain't so strange or wierd to show your heart because if you ain't got heart you have nothing!

What will I wear tomorrow, I only need to look to my foot locker where my boxes are and all my ducks are lined up and ready to go, thanks for lending me a ear folks, I needed that :)

still chew but at least I am not smoking. I can't believe how easy it has been for me, the chew has helped me big time, I don't have those cravings for smokes. I have been chewing for about three years at work because smoking at work or any where is a no no nowdays, so I started chewing. If I knew that chewing would cure me of putting smoke into my lungs I would have stop smoking 38 years ago.

I know chewing is not good for you also but I look at it this way, I will beat one bad habit at a time, I will work on the chewing next but right now it has been keeping the smoke outa my lungs

Shelby, how is my dear friend Elson, I sure miss that man, he is good as good gets, I don't think I have ever met a more honest, good hearted and down right good person as I did Elson, please give him my best and tell him that I think about him every day and am pulling for him, tell him that the General knows he can wheater the storm, please give him my best Shelby, Elson has been a big part of my life on these forums for years and he is family to me, thanks Shelby.
