Malfunctions with my CTX3030

I've had contentious malfunction troubles with my CTX3030 detector from the very first day starting with it's order process.
It's been an on and off back and forth to the MINELAB Americas center within the past 10 months.
I'm starting to think that there are some bad batches of detectors that just might be tucked in the hands of a few distributors but, I really can't be sure.
I've operated my CTX3030 for just over a year now and I very much love the product and all of it's bells and whistles .but, I'm beginning to think otherwise right now.
I've had my screen freeze up, key touch pad stop responding ,trigger stop responding, unexpected error occurrence, detector refuses to turn off, detector will not turn on and some other unexplained issues.
Everyone occurs randomly and I have no idea why.
So,am I the only one having these issues with this detector?

I have not had a single issue with mine and I have had it since May of 2012.

Mine does the same thing...sometimes the detect button wont let me into my second screen, sometimes she wont shut down, sometimes she plays her little tune and shuts down on her own.

She is a second hand machine, the guy that I bought it from did not tell me about it..maybe it never happened to him while it still had some warranty, maybe not...it is what it is. Choice was all mine..

If your machine is acting up and you have warranty then send it in...

I Had Problems with One Of My MineLab Detectors And Quite Honestly It Was A Lemon

And It Basically Got The "Brain" Replaced After It Was Sent Back Three Or Four Times

I Am A little Embarrassed To say That I Cannot Recall If It was The 3030 Or The ET....LOL

But MineLab Does Stand Behind Its Detectors Because Of The Reputation And The Cost, So....

Good Luck

I'm assuming your machine is still under warranty and Minelab is covering the costs of the repairs. With that said, as long as they're footing the bill, I'd keep sending it back in for repairs. They'll eventually get it fixed. It's probably some kind of major problem like a bad motherboard.

I'm not real familiar with the warranties on the CTXs. But, if your CTX keeps having problems, will Minelab's warranty replace the old machine with a new machine?

I had the same trouble with mine it was one of the first ones out , I sent it back and have used it many hours now with no trouble I would not go with any other detector that's on the market at this time.

Well everyone I got a call just the other day from one of the techs that I had contacted a few weeks ago and he told me that he couldn't find anything wrong with my detector at first.
Then he add not until he ran a check on the control panel with a tester and that's when everything began to go crazy. He couldn't figure it out he told me so he replaced the hole control panel.
Now with all the innert of the control box replaced and a new control panel in place he said my CTX performs outstanding and it's all new..
So i'm looking forward to receiving my detector back this coming Wensday and I truly hope it will be in good operating order fore curtain this time around.
I really appreciate each of your responses to my post.
Good luck in all your hunts, be safe and God bless each of you..

Well wouldn't you know it I got my CTX3030 back from repair the other day and I was really happy until I discovered one part missing, There is no "Head Phone Module" for my control box.
Now I don't want to draw any bad conclusions to this situation that has continued to move forward with error atter error but, what am I to think?
I've tried to notify the tech by phone and email but, I have yet to receive any replys or any response as of today.
I went out for a hunt with my repaired unit and it is working outstandingly well so that's impressive.
I'm hopeing that my missing part has been shipped and that my overall collaboration with the MINELAB tech support and this whole issue is finished.
If I had to rate this time consuming process from a scale of 1 to 10, i'd give it a iffy 7.

Any updates with your HP Module from Minelab yet? I'd be interested if they stepped up to the plate?

Yes there has been an update in regards to my missing HP module
. I made another attempt on trying to get a response from MINELAB the other day and I was able to make contact with the tech that had worked on my CTX problem.
Evedently he had been off work sick for a couple of days and he'd just gotten back Monday. he said that he read the email and that he was going to ship the missing module NLT Tuesday..
I didn't question him as to why it never got reinstalled to the control box and shipped in the first place but instead I just thanked him for all of his support .
in the mean time I've had the repaired 3030 out for a few spins and everything seems to be working real well for now.
I can't imagine anything going wacko' on me any time soon now that all the inner parts of the control panel plus the control box have been replaced.

I've been pretty lucky with Minelab detectors and have never had to send one back for repair. I love my CTX. I'm glad to hear your problems have been resolved.

Sounds like Minelab stood behind their work! Did you ever get the HP Module back?

Yes I did finally get my module back from MINELAB, It came in the mail(USPS) and all is back to normal operations once agan.

Glad to hear about your machine and everything seems to be fine. I have had no major problems with any of my machines but it is good to know about Minelabs service for you. HH :minelab:
