Makro refuses to warranty broke ears on my coil

Makro just sent me an email and says the ears on my 5.5x10 coil broke due to user error. They could tell this from a pic i sent.. How can i go almost 40 years detecting using almost every detector out there and never break a single coil and only 1 coil bolt in all that time to breaking 3 coils and 3 coil bolts in less than 2 months?? If i were anyone with a brain i would stay away from this company.. My makro racer is for sale cheap make an offer lol

I would politely launch it back into their court with the very same thing you are telling us. They have a problem as witnessed by the traffic with broken ear stories on here. Makes me wish I had read them a little better before I plopped down my money for their detector and a 5 inch coil. If they get the reputation for leaving us hang there will be a bunch of their detectors on the sale part of this site cheap. I can't believe they are trying to dodge you on this. Maybe it was buyer error and not user error. Please keep us posted. Go back at them, this is not a well thought out response from them.

Hi Bill ,

After sharing the photo with our production department , I got information that it’s user error . We didn’t get any broken issue about RC26 coil until now.

I could send a new RC26 coil (by free shipping) to you if you could pay by PayPal only the cost of the coil $139 .

PayPal : info@makrodetector.com

I am looking forward to hearing from you soon

Best Regards

The plastic on the RC26 coil is as brittle as it is on the RC29 coil, the ears on both of my coils broke.

As reported above I to have never had a broken coil ear in over 35 years of detecting.

Something needs to be rectified urgently!

Bill, Richard brings up a valid point.

Have you given this information to your dealer?

If so, what is he doing to help you?

You shouldn't have to fight this battle alone...

Hello...just copying my posts from another forum:

Hello all! I would like to clarify a few things:

The ear breakage on the 10X5.5'' coil on this thread is the first reported case and considering the fact that we have shipped thousands of these coils so far, it was considered as a single isolated issue by the Makro team. I cannot comment on why it was viewed as user fault without looking more into it but I confirm here that Makro team will be contacting this customer to replace his coil.

I would like to emphasize that we are a very transparent and honest company and when we have an issue ,we do not try to hide it or close our ears to customer complaints but rather be open about it and do whatever it takes to fix it and make our customers feel that they can trust us.

We did announce that we had issues with the 11'' coils and the bolts of the first few shipments and so far replaced each and every single coil that was reported to us. When the initial few failures were reported, Makro and its dealers sent replacements to customers right away to make the customers happy. Some replacement coils sent to them also failed because either the problem had not surfaced yet so we were not aware that we were sending faulty coils or it was very hard to track stocks of dealers and what was being sent to customers so some replacement coils sent to customers were not the updated ones. As a result, a few customers experienced the issue more than once.

We are not perfect just like no other manufacturer within this industry or others is but we are open, sincere and responsible.
Once again, we apologize to each and every single customer who had an issue with the Racer coils and we are here should you need any assistance.

Thank you!

Hello! We checked more into the first reported case of ear breakage on the 10X5.5'' coil.
When we first realized the ear breakages on the 11X7'' coils, we stopped the production of all coils including the 10X5.5'' ones which were not shipping in volume at the time because it was an optional coil.
A total of 35 10X5.5'' coils were shipped before we stopped production. This number is very small and should not create a general concern.
If you have a coil ear breakage issue, please contact the Makro sales team at cavit@makrodetector.com and they will replace your coil.

Yes richard is a great guy and he is very much appreciated .. My dealer has offered to replace my coil even though makro has said no. But my issue is i dont feel the dealer needs to chance their money on replacing coils for a manufacturer with known coil issues.. Makro did email me and decided it was best to replace my coil as of early this morning.. When makro emailed me the other day and said they wont replace my coil and that is was my fault the coil broke, well i emailed back a not so nice response. My correction officer mouth kinda went stupid ;) i was right in my email but the end part i told them to go&%^$#*@.. It is what it is. We will see what happens next.. I will keep all posted.

Well there we go.. Could have been simple but in the end its all the same results.. Maybe... Might be a few people not so trusting to buy now.. Thanks makro/nokta for stepping up
