Makro racers being re-sold

I am curious why so many are being re-sold so early, when they are just now becoming available as dealer stock. I bet I have already seen 10 different units for sale, since it's initial release. What gives? Are people just that dissatisfied, or are they just waiting for the impact to hit shelves? Some are selling brand new units with out even trying them out!

Probably like me a lot just wanted to see if they fit their needs. I hunt mainly trashy parks. Not a real strong point for the Racer but I wanted to give it a try anyway because you just never know. I actually plan on buying another Racer as soon as I can. I only sold mine because I had a family emergency and needed quick cash.

Southwind stated his reason. I know of two bought for wives or girlfriends that didn't want them but that's all I've seen. There's always people selling for one reason or another. It doesn't necessarily mean there's a problem. Southwind, Have you tried the small 5" coil in the trash? I think the Racer with the 5" coil is the best trashy area detector I've ever used. I've used a few in the past 40 years.

No I never really got a chance. A life long buddy was dying of cancer in OKC and they only gave him a very short time to live. R.I.P. my old friend. and I ended up selling before I did much more than using the Racer in my test garden. I've been watching the classifieds but never seem to hit at the right time.

I agree with Southwind..It just wasn't what I need for my areas of detecting..
I will not be buying another one.... The up average of multiple targets 82 ID killed it for me..
The hype was a little strong for the actual abilities.

Like any detector that comes out some feel it is the magic wand that will find good items the first time out in worked out area without learning them. Most detectors takes a little time to get used to them and you will dig trash until you get to know what to listen for and how to used what you hear. Many I see use them a time or 2 and want to get rid of them and try the next new one out.
Back in the late 70s and early 80s a new detector came out called the Teknetics and I got a 8500B and for the first few time out it drove me nuts with the different tones and more than once wanted to wrap it around a tree, but the more I used it the more I understood it and the better this detector came. Next was the Teknetics Mark 1 which was easy to use as I spent the time to learn the 8500B. Now in 1996 I got a Minelab Sovereign and this was greek to me even though I knew my Mark1 and I probably would have sold it like many others did, but some told me don't give up and after 4 or 5 weeks with a lot of use it started to make sense to me and seen where it was getting good coins after another once I started understanding it. I seen many that tried them and gave up and sold them, but after seeing what others were finding they tried again and stuck with them and seen what they can do. I remember with the Explorers came out some liked them while others hated them and seen many for sale shortly after they were released and after many that took the time to learn them and posted the finds they were finding some got them back again and love them. I know when the E-Tracs came out many Explorer user got them and and resold them as they felt the Explorers did better, but they were trying to run them like their Explorers, most of these after seeing what others were finding they went back and tried the E Tracs again and like them. What I am trying to say is with the Racer like any other detector we have to get to know them and understand them to do well and this will take time as it is not something you will learn first time out or even the second time out.
I have a Racer myself and I haven't seen the WOW factor yet, but have seen and learn something each time out with it and getting to know more about it. Got around 10 hours total on it and got some new coins, got 2 mercs and 5 or 6 early wheat pennies, quite a pile of trash too as I am still in the learning of it and feel it will get better as I learn it.
I just keep remembering what Monte said in more than one of his post is to take your time to know the Racer and you will do well.
Sure there always seem to be a lot of the new detectors that come out back on the classified shortly after they had them as some expect them to find only the good items or find good items that are not there and when they don't they go up for sale. Then there is those that will use them for quite a while and do well.
We will always see those buy and resell after a short while and see some of these buy back the same detectors later on when we see more good finds found posted.

I heard about Makro Racer last year and I was think about to buy it because it have vibration for hearing impaired. I don't buy it because that I see only 4 AA batteries and it wouldn't last long so I stay with my great machine....E-Trac with 280 vibraphone.

Thank you RickND for your post. I always enjoy reading your posts and your words of wisdom that go along with them.
